Our bodies are such marvels of engineering and design that we often take them for granted. Pain, whether it’s from an injury, disease, overuse, or a sedentary lifestyle is usually a red flag that something is wrong. As trainers we teach and guide you through a custom program built around your needs. The ability to heal your own body is a lifetime benefit. We show you how the body can heal itself and we demonstrate ways to restore your body to a natural pain-free life outside of medical intervention.

Progressive Fitness has been in business since 1992 in the Sherwood area with David and Tammy Allen as gym owners. It’s also really exciting to say that David has retained many of his clients since the beginning of his business. He employs a staff of very talented trainers all trained in the “Progressive Fitness Culture” and are ready and excited to meet you!

David Allen

  • Bachelors Degree of Science in Physical Fitness Management

  • Masters of Exercise Physiology and Functional Movement

  • American Council of Sports Medicine Certified

  • Over 30 years of experience in the fitness training industry

  • Owner of Progressive Fitness since 1997

David draws his expertise from many distinct and diverse disciplines which allow him insight and knowledge beyond the scope of most trainers. David enjoys  various activities including martial arts (black belt), racquetball, mountain biking, golf and running.

Tammy Allen 

 

CO-OWNER

FITNESS ADVISOR

 

  • ​Black Belt in Taekwondo

  • Specialized in Group Training 

  • Specialized in HIIT Training  

 

Tammy enjoys participating in races such as the Portland to Coast, Hood to Coast, and the Portland Marathon. She has also backpacked around Mount Hood, Mount Rainier, the Wallalas, and Mount Adams. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf, and lifting weights. 

Michele Lessler

Michele has a lifelong commitment to health, fitness and nutrition. Michele received her certification as an Egoscue Trainer 10 years  ago to diversify her personal training experience. She has a varied fitness background as a bodybuilder, martial artist, golfer and distance runner. She currently enjoys golf, skiing, weight training, and spending time with her family. Michele has been actively involved with Progressive Fitness for over 14 years.

Harrison Mahns
 
PERSONAL TRAINER

  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified

  • Associates degree in Exercise Science from PCC

  • Specializes in 1on1, group exercise and exercise adaptations

  • Unconventional training enthusiast (kettlebells, maces, clubs, body weight movements)

 

Harrison is a Portland local and veteran formally serving for the US ARMY. He lives a plant based lifestyle (Vegan) Body positive and welcomes all demographics! He has been with Progressive Fitness since June of 2020. Harrison works as owner David Allen’s assistant. He guides clients through personal training menus, works one on one with individuals, and leads group fitness classes. When Harrison is not training he likes spending time outdoors walking/hiking or indoors online content creating anywhere from fitness to videogames. Harrison is currently accepting new clients for both group and personal training.

Lisa Kaus

 

 

PERSONAL TRAINER

Lisa has been with Progressive Fitness since 2012. 

Lisa  brings a nurturing, creative spirit to Progressive Fitness. Lisa works as owner David Allen’s assistant, she guides clients through personal training menus, works one on one with individuals, and leads group fitness classes. Over the last, 10 years, Lisa has been actively involved in her own personal fitness journey. In that time she participated in numerous running and cycling events in the local Portland area.
